Our History
Yorkstar-Zedekiah Lodge No. 167 traces its origins from a merger which took place on December 14, 1999 . The participant lodges included York Star Lodge No. 207 & Zedekiah Lodge No. 167. Today, Yorkstar-Zedekiah is located on Goosley Road in Yorktown, VA near the original site of York Star Lodge and meets every second Saturday at high noon.

Zedekiah Lodge No. 167 was issued a dispensation dated July 20 1914 by Grand Master J.W. Barnes to organize a masonic lodge at North Morrison, Warwick County. The lodge was named after King Zedekiah, the last king of Judah. A charter dated December 14, 1914 empowering the lodge to work, was issued by the Grand Master Hamlin Nelson. In his report at the 40th annual communication, he reported the lodge as having 0 past masters, 32 master masons, and 2 fellowcrafts. The minutes reflected that the lodge held its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday evenings at Osana Hall of North Morrison. The following names appear on the original charter: Joseph Bland, WM; Ernest Spratley, SW; Griffin Pressey, JW; T.B. Morron, Treasurer; W.H. Smith, Secretary; W.W. Cook; SD; Hill Steward, JD; J.M. White, Chaplain; and Sherman Brown, Tiler.

York Star Lodge No. 207 was formed and chartered October 30, 1920. The original officers were James Wells, WM, J.H. Muse, SW, and S.T. Chisman, JW. The lodge hall was located in a community known as Uniontown (aka Slabtown) near Cook Road which is now part of the Yorktown Revolutionary War Battleground Federal Park. The York Star Masonic Cemetary is still located at the site. In 1960 the now existing lodge hall was finished at 811 Goosley Road. The basic building was contracted, mortgaged and most of the finishing work accomplished by the members. Within 15 years the mortgage was burned, and the building became the sole property of the lodge. This was all accomplished with a membership of about 12 brothers.
